Grapes, Seedless Grapes, and Peeled Grapes

It really doesn’t matter what type of grapes you are talking about.

From seedless grapes to red grapes to green grapes to peeled grapes, you need to keep them away from your Shih Tzu.

Grapes are highly toxic to any dog.

The issue is, it isn’t completely clear which part of the grape is toxic, so that means you need to keep the whole thing away from your little loved one.

What About Raisins?

Raisins are just dried-up grapes, so the same thing applies.

Don’t let your Shih Tzu have any raisins either.

No matter how much they beg.

Just enjoy them yourself and keep them away from your dog.

That goes for any cookies that might have raisins in them as well such as oatmeal cookies.

What to Do If Your Shih Tzu Has Eaten Grapes

Grape poisoning is serious and you will need to contact your veterinarian immediately if your Shih Tzu has eaten grapes.

The toxicity of grapes will start to take its toll very quickly, within hours, and may start with an upset stomach.

Your veterinarian may want you to induce vomiting right away and if that isn’t possible, they will want you to bring them to the office immediately.

Keep in mind that if your Shih Tzu is having trouble breathing or is unconscious you should not try to induce vomiting.
